- The double face sledge hammers from GEARWRENCH® have an alloy steel, drop forged head with polished faces and bevels for an ideal striking surface. We designed the large face for use with slugging and striking wrenches, or for use on stone, concrete and metal. The striking face has substantial bevels that reduce the chance of chipping by removing common fracture points. The long, hickory handles of these hammers are flame treated with a clear lacquer before being securely wedged into the hammer head to provide optimal swinging strength.
